4 Days and Counting

As you may or may not know, the Assault Weapons Ban section of the Public Safety and Recreational Firearms Use Protection Act of 1993 expires THIS MONDAY, September 13th at 12 midnight.

President Bush has said he would sign the bill reauthorizing the ban (H.R.3831) if it was given to him by congress. However, Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist said:
I think the will of the American people is consistent with letting it expire, so it will expire.
and House Majority Leader Tom DeLay said:
If the president asked me, it'd still be no ... because we don't have the votes to pass an assault weapons ban and it will expire Monday and that's that.
What does these comments and the lifting of this ban mean to you and me? It means that Tuesday morning, just about anyone can go out and buy a:
Norinco 86:

Mitchell JM:

All models of Poly Technologies Avtomat Kalashnikovs, including the AK-47:

What kind of world do we live in, and what kind of representation do we have in congress when we would allow these sorts of weapons back on the street?

God Help Us...

This must make Hank and his genius political friend Jacob extremely happy - now they can take out the protesters much more efficiently.

Of course, they're no dirty bombs.

actually, yes we have. But I wonder if you actually know what it really means? Before you get all upset at your "rights" being violated, read the Constitution first will ya? Thanks

These weapons were not banned, just the new manufacture of them was banned. They have been owned all through the "ban". All the ban did was raise prices and make certain features unavailable such as bayonet lugs and telescoping stocks.

The street sweeper and the striker are regulated by the NFA, you have to have a background check and bay a $200 tax to the ATF to get them.

The Tec-9 and Tec-22 are no longer made.

"Assault Weapons" are used in only 2% of crimes. This law did nothing to stop crime.

While the ban was on, terrorists used box cutters to hijack planes and fly them into skyscrapers. In the new millenium, you had better be armed, unless you don't mind being murdered by terrorists.
